Improvements To Increase The Value of Your Home

By your local Realtor -Kate Meyer

If you’re thinking about moving soon, wanting to sell your home to size up, or just wanting to update your home to its full potential then here are some helpful tips you’ll wanna hear from a licensed realtor.

The first aspect of your home anyone will see including buyers, realtors, and investors will always be the front of the home. Make sure you have a nice front door with easy to open locks. Renovating things such as the garage door, pillars, and the porch are all good updates for the curb appeal of your home.

The most important aspect of a home is the kitchen. This is where your family will gather to cook and eat meals together. The kitchen is the heart of the home. If you have the budget and time for it, a kitchen renovation should be one of the first things on your list. Choose cabinets that go all the way up to the ceilings that are sleek and modern. The countertops should be a simple marble or quartzite. Try to stick with neutral colors, you can add the pop of color with accent decorations.

The next aspect in the home that would be on my list of things to renovate first would be the flow of the home. Walls everywhere close things up and make your home feel cramped and cluttered. A much more modern style is an open concept home. If you have some walls that are not supporting the integrity of the home then you can take them out to allow for more free and open space in the home.

I would then make sure that the home has a cohesive flow. All of the flooring on the main level should be the same. A popular and easily maintainable flooring commonly used is real hardwood floors. Darker colors are popular for floors.

One of the final renovations I would do to my home is the master suit. I would make sure that the master stands out from all of the other rooms in the house. Maybe add a nicer light fixture in the room. Update the bathroom to its full potential. Adding in a separate tub and bath is an excellent idea if you have the space  for it. I would also instal a double vanity if the space allows for it.

Finishes like these will help to increase the sale price of your home. If you’re not handy I always recommend speaking with several licensed contractors to compare rates.
